Dark wet afternoon, the creek flows free. Tall shrubs leaning over the path form a green tunnel through which I pass into a world where one sees only simulations of reality. Where am I? Who's behind this mask?

I want to talk about Homer, the seer, the author and source of all learning and wisdom,
the most learned man writing in Greek and Latin.

The Greek clears his rugose throat. I wonder whether Homer was a single person, or several; sighted or visually impaired. While most scholars agree The Iliad was made by "Homer," was that person also the author of The Odyssey? Where it was written, and what was the author's gender?

A blind bard
a woman sits beside him,
centuries apart, editing the masterful epics.
