Yesterday I felt the urge again to paint. I pulled the drape off of the canvas that I'd left in utter frustration at my own ambivalence two months ago.

The swirls of jungle greens and pyramids of earthenware designs still stared back at me. Eyes popped out from under leaves and in the wooden rails of border fencing.

I had a choice. I took a breath and painted the whole canvas white.
