      Introduction

      The Centro de Estudio del Genero is an academic unit of the Department of Social Science of the instituto Tecnologico de Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic. Since 1986 the Center has been dedicated to the production, analysis and dissemination of information and experiences on the issues of women and gender relations, thus stimulating the transformation of discriminatory practices that prevent the full development of human beings, especially women.
