The USA TODAY carries its bright color scheme from its paper into the anchors on its website. Each section is color coded, with the same color used for both headers and anchors--a nondifferentiated effect. Compare the hunt for anchor and nonanchor content with brandchannel's [5] use of the same graphic for anchoral and nonanchoral content. Copyright 2004. USA TODAY. Reprinted (used on screen) with permission. Icons and subject categories Unlike BBC [4] or Bankrate [3] 's subtle subject schemes, or even EarthTrend's [12] background schemes, these subject areas are brightly delineated.
Note that, like Bankrate
[3], USA TODAY uses common icons with text. However, these are primarily
used to denote subject categories rather than tools. |
