Legomenon for

UNKNOWN ANCIENT

For a long time, the Writing {Nobody knew what hit us} was ascribed to the self-styled Last One, and the Author of this Writing certainly does seem to share provenance with him. It is possible even that they knew each other — elsewhere among the Writings of the Ancients, there exists a tiny fragment containing the phrase "the last two left", which may refer to them.

The peculiar idiom "what hit us" is, of course, what pairs this Writing with those of the Last One, but recent textual analysis, though inconclusive, suggests that the syntactic signature of both Writings is sufficiently distinct to warrant separate attribution.
