I would still be a man on business
a man in trade
like the prata man patting his dough by video light
as silks the color of fable pass in the street of illuminations:
hallucinations still of Marco Polo
sizing up exaggerated blades of grass, called "bamboo,"
and reporting back abundant interest:
wondrous organisms that are one and another
--ramets of the genet--
whether to answer his investors
with metaphor that drains the world of strangeness
or metaphor deranging what is known,
till innocent as a splash of photons
he eyes the utterly foreign
and makes up his true "Description of the World":
